Reporting vs Blocking: When to Use Which

Report and Block sit right next to each other in every chat, and it's easy to assume they do the same thing. They don't — and knowing the difference means you'll actually reach for the right one.

Block: for you, immediate, permanent

Blocking someone means you will never be matched with them again, starting the moment you tap it. It requires no reason, sends no explanation to the other person, and only affects you — it's the right move any time a conversation feels wrong, whether or not anything "reportable" actually happened.

Report: for everyone, reviewed by our team

Reporting flags the conversation for our moderation team to actually review — it's how patterns of abuse across multiple users get caught and acted on, including bans. Reporting doesn't automatically block the person for you; if you want both, do them separately.

Using them together

The most common — and most sensible — pattern is doing both at once: report to flag the behavior for review, and block so you personally never see that account again. Neither action requires you to justify yourself, and neither one notifies the other person that you did it.
