What Happens When You Skip to the Next Stranger?

April 13, 2026 · 3 min read

One of the most useful things about random chat is how cheap it is to walk away from a conversation that isn't working. Ending a chat and starting a new one costs nothing — no explanation, no penalty, no awkwardness that follows you.

What actually happens

Tapping End Chat closes the current conversation for both people and puts you back at the Start Chatting screen. The other person sees the chat marked as ended on their side too, with their own option to find someone new.

When it makes sense to skip

  • The conversation has gone quiet and isn't picking back up.
  • You don't share enough language to actually talk.
  • Something about the chat feels off, even if it's not reportable — you're never obligated to explain a skip.
  • You just want a fresh conversation — there's no rule that says you have to make the current one work.

Skip is different from block

Ending a chat doesn't prevent you from being matched with that person again in the future — it's a neutral action. If you specifically never want to be matched with someone again, use Block instead, which is permanent from your side.
